Let Your Fingers Do the Walking: Online Directories
Are you listed? Have you taken the time to register your business and URL with the myriad of directories available on line? It is a long, slow process and yet each directory provides one more reference to your business.
Do you remember the movie Steve Martin made called The Jerk? Do you remember how excited he got when his name appeared in the new phone book?
Well, you can increase your Internet fame by taking the time to research, register and complete a variety of online directories.
When you visit the site, look for words like: submit a site or register a URL or suggest a URL. Some of the registration opportunities are hidden and often you'll need to search for the FREE option. It takes time and knowing how valuable your time is, you may want to limit the task to adding your name to one new directory a day or a week. But including your business on a business search directory will provide additional inbound links and create additional online exposure for your site.
Has anyone found a great directory that has provided leads for their business?
p.s. enjoy a trip down memory lane with the short video above that recaps the movie The Jerk.

Thanks for the lead. I did go to your site and sign up. There are a lot of extras available, looks like it is very easy to customimze your listing. It does appear that the costs begin to add up.
The site was easy to navigate and the form was easy to complete.
These are some excellent suggestions for online directories for those who want to build up their online presence. We have another directory we would like to add to that list called Localville. Localville is currently in open beta, offers free listings (over 600,000 listings and growing--we're new and growing fast!) and premium, featured listings, including video listings that allow you to post either a :30 commercial or a 2:00 infomercial to really set your business apart from the competition.
The letters and numbers you entered did not match the image. Please try again.
As a final step before posting your comment, enter the letters and numbers you see in the image below. This prevents automated programs from posting comments.
